Rubin Optical Illusion Vase
Hand-built white earthenware vase...or is it two faces? A nod to the optical illusion, Rubin's Vase (sometimes known as the Rubin Face). It is glazed with a clear matte and glossy black glaze on the outside, and coated in a glossy clear glaze inside. Base is left natural, unglazed, sanded, and stamped with maker Umlaut's logo. Perfect as a stand alone sculpture or filled with your favorite blossoms. Due to its handmade nature, variation in shape and size are to be expected. Each piece is one of a kind.
Patti Miller, the founder of Ümlaut Ceramics, is an artist working with clay out of her home studio in Portland, Oregon. Her work is bold and graphic, working with optical illusions, wavy lines, and negative space. She sees each piece she creates as a one of a kind functional sculpture that will make daily life more exciting and inspiring.
